Larry Fitzhenry
Larry’s passion for ocular drug delivery began during his Ph.D., where he focussed on developing micro and nanotechnologies to control the release of steroid molecules for ophthalmic treatment. He went on to become a technology leader at the PMBRC, an applied research centre in the Waterford Campus of South East Technological University. Since then, he has founded the Ocular Therapeutics Research Group and become the coordinator and consortium lead for the EU-funded ORBITAL-ITN project, a network with 24 members from around the world that focuses on developing and testing ocular drug delivery technologies. Larry’s expertise lies in polymer and nanotechnology-based technologies to tackle significant challenges in the treatment of eye diseases and his own journey with Dry Eye Disease has helped to shape OcuDel’s lead technologies.
